pCMVHB-S2.S
pCMVHB-S2.S (or pCMV-M) contains the open reading frames to simultaneously
express the small and the middle forms of the Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
(HBsAg) protein. pCMV-M can be used to generate anti-HBsAg antibodies
in animal models and is excellent for testing new DNA vaccine delivery
strategies. The antibody response to pCMV-M can be tested via ELISA
with Aldevron's recombinant HBsAg (Recombinant HBsAg). Details about

Additional coding sequences can be conveniently
inserted into the N-terminal extension of the Middle protein by cloning
into the unique EcoRI and XhoI sites in the preS2 region. Inserted
sequences will replace nearly all of the preS2 sequences and (if cloned
in-frame) the additional amino acid sequence will be fused to the
S (Small) form of the HBsAg particle. This potentially could make
the inserted sequence more immunogenic.
